Zanetta Udo-Obong looking to break 12 seconds in 100m for the first time in 20 months
Zanetta Udo-Obong, the daughter of Nigeria’s relay specialist, Enefiok Udo-Obong will be hoping she can finally break 12 seconds in the 100m event 20 years after she first did, when she takes to the at the Vertklasse Meeting at High Point, North Carolina on Saturday.
The 18 year old broke 12 seconds for the first and only time almost two years ago at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Ground in Yaba, Lagos when she ran 11.89 to place first in the third heat of the 100m event at the Lagos Athletics Series League Finals.
She ran inside 12 seconds twice at the meet and will be seeking to do it again 20 months after at the meet in North Carolina.
Zanetta Udo-Obong was not able to do it last year, running a 12.85 personal season’s best. She however looks ready this season after storming to a 12.05 finish at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Lenoir-Rhyne University Sophomore will be eager to carve a niche for herself in track and surpass whatever his father has achieved in the sport.
She will be looking to get to the podium at a global or continental event as an individual medalist as well as winning relay medals like her father.
