2022/23 Premier League Title Race: Wenger sees Arsenal as Man City main challenger

Says Chelsea and Liverpool lack the consistency to pose a significant threat

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes table topping Gunners are the second-best team in the Premier League behind Manchester City.

The Cityzens are heavy favourites to win the Premier League this season after demolishing Manchester City 6-3 at the Etihad on Sunday but Wenger is confident Mikel Arteta’s men can run City close in the second half of the season.

The former Arsenal boss also feels Liverpool and Chelsea lack the consistency to pose a significant threat.

Asked if he believes Arsenal should be considered as Premier League title challengers, Wenger told beIN Sports: ‘Yeah, personally I would put them just behind City.

‘[Arsenal are] the second-best team to have a good chance to win the Premier League because Man City at some stage will focus highly on the Champions League.’

Asked if he felt it’s Arsenal’s best chance to challenge, Wenger said: ‘I think so.

‘And after we don’t know about Liverpool but they are already 11 points behind and 10 points behind Man City is a mountain to climb.

‘And Chelsea as well do not look consistent at the moment. They have not found the confidence to contend to win the league.

‘Tottenham, anyway, by my DNA I cannot give you [a prediction].’
