2026 Beach Soccer AFCON Qualifiers: Kaduna Govt Backs Sand Eagles To Beat Ghana

The Kaduna State Government has thrown its weight behind Nigeria’s Sand Eagles ahead of their decisive return-leg clash against Ghana’s Black Sharks in the qualifiers for the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.

Director of Sports Development in the Kaduna State Ministry of Sports Development, Hassan Buba, conveyed the government’s support during a visit to the national team before their departure from Kaduna on Thursday.

Buba spoke on behalf of the state Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Ben Kure, who was unable to attend due to another official engagement outside the state.

He expressed confidence that the Sand Eagles would secure the ticket to the continental tournament, urging the players and officials to remain focused as they prepare for the encounter in Accra.

‘I extend to you the good wishes of the Honourable Commissioner, who would have loved to see you personally as you depart from Kaduna. He wishes you all the very best as you go to Accra for the return-leg match, and he is confident that you will earn the ticket to qualify for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations,’ Buba said.

He also urged the team to maintain discipline throughout their stay in Ghana, assuring them of the state government’s support and prayers.

‘We are solidly behind you in spirit, even though we cannot be physically present in Ghana. We are praying for you. Insha Allah, you will return victorious,’ he added.

The Sand Eagles head into the return leg after a 3-3 draw in the first meeting, leaving the qualification contest finely poised as Nigeria seek to overcome the Black Sharks and secure a place at the 2026 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations.
