Nia Ali not scared of Amusan, says Nigerian is just one of several serious contenders for World 100m hurdles title

Nia Ali, the 2019 World 100m hurdles champion has told World Athletics website in an interview she is not worried with the return of Tobi Amusan to the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

The Nigerian was provisionally suspended last month by the Athletics Integrity Unit, AIU, for Whereabouts Failures but was cleared by a three man panel of arbitrators.

Amusan’s provisional suspension was immediately lifted by the AIU and the Nigerian began her title defence with an impressive 12.48 run, the second fastest time in the first round.

Ali is however unfazed by the return of the reigning World champion and record holder.

She described the Nigerian as just one of the several serious contenders for the title.

‘Good for her – I will see her at the starting line. I am looking forward to some very fast racing, and there are more than just Tobi.

‘The title could go to anybody in the final,’ says the American on the eve of the 100m hurdles first round heats.
