Nottingham Forest 1-2 Arsenal: Bukayo Saka makes Gunners’ history

Bukayo Saka was on target for the second time in his last three Premier League games to inspire Arsenal to their second consecutive win as they defeated Nothinham Forest 2-1 at the City Ground.

The victory is the Gunners’ sixth of their last seven Premier League meetings with Nottingham Forest (L1), completing a double over Taiwo Awoniyi’s team this season.

Saka doubled Arsenal’s lead on 72 minutes after Gabriel Jesus gave Mikel Arteta’s team the lead on 65th minute. Nigeria’s Awoniyi reduced the deficit with just a minute left in regulation time but it was not enough to force a draw.

The goal is Saka’s seventh in 21 Premier League games to further extend his record as the Gunners’ top scorr so far this season.

The 22 year old has now scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 29 games across all competitions to become the first Arsenal player to record 10+ goals and 10+ assists in all competitions in two consecutive seasons for Arsenal since Alexis Sánchez did so three times running from 2014-15 to 2016-17.

Saka has now scored 38 goals and provided 33 assists in 156 Premier League games since he made his debut in the competition on New Year’s day in 2019.
