Osimhen and Icardi to spearhead Galatasaray Europa League attack

Victor Osimhen and Maurio Icardi are two out of the seven strikers Galatasaray have registered for their 2024/25 Europa League squad and the duo will spearhead the Turkish Super Lig attack in the competition.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray on Wednesday after completing medical tests and the Nigerian was unveiled to the public.

He joined on a loan deal from Italian Serie A side, Napoli and has expressed his delight with the move from the toxic environment he has found himself at a club he inspired to their first scudetto in 33 years and which he has netted 76 times for in 133 appearances.

With Galatasaray coach, Okan Buruk to change formation to a two-man attack, Osimhen and Icardi, who has scored 56 goals in 79 appearances he has made for the Turkish champions since he joined in July 2023.

Also listed in Galatasaray’s killer attack are Dries Mertens, Osimhen former colleague at Napoli who has scored 20 times in 90 games, former Chelsea star, Michy Batshuayi, Yunus Akgün andYusuf Demir.

Osimhen may make his Euopa League debut for the club on September 25 when they host Greece’s PAOK at the Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi.
