Akor Adams becomes seventh Nigerian to score against Barcelona in LaLiga

Akor Adams etched his name into history on Sunday by becoming the seventh Nigerian to score against Barcelona in LaLiga.
The Sevilla striker netted the fourth and final goal in his team’s emphatic 4–1 victory over the Catalan giants, marking his second consecutive goal in Spain’s top flight after opening his account last week.
With his strike, Adams joins an elite group of Nigerian players who have found the net against Barcelona in LaLiga viz Odion Ighalo, Ramon Azeez, Christopher Ohenhen, Finidi George, Kalu Uche, and Samuel Chukwueze.
Odion Ighalo scored for Granada in a 2–1 defeat at the Nuevo Los Cármenes in February 2013, his only goal in three appearances against Barcelona.
Ramon Azeez, a former Nigeria U17 star, netted Granada’s opener in a 2–0 win over Barcelona at the same venue in September 2019, scoring once in five meetings.
Kalu Uche struck once across six LaLiga games for Almeria and Levante, equalizing in a 2–2 draw for UD Almeria in March 2008.
Christopher Ohenhen, a former Flying Eagles forward, scored twice in four appearances for SD Compostela. His first was a 76th minute winner in a 2–1 victory at the Verónica Boquete de San Lázaro in October 1995.
Finidi George and Samuel Chukwueze lead the Nigerian tally against Barcelona with three goals each.
Chukwueze scored all three for Villarreal in nine appearances, while Finidi netted his trio across nine matches for Real Betis and RCD Mallorca, two of them coming in eight games for Betis.
