22-time Grand Slam champion's appointment will be subject to ratification at the club's November 21 General Assembly.

Tennis legend Rafael Nadal has accepted an invitation to join Real Madrid’s board of directors, adding a new chapter to his long-standing association with the Spanish football giants.
The 40-year-old confirmed on Wednesday that he had accepted the offer from club president Florentino Pérez and the board, expressing enthusiasm about contributing to the club’s future.
‘I would like to thank President Florentino Pérez and the Board for inviting me to join the Board of Directors of @realmadrid. I have accepted this invitation with great enthusiasm, keen to learn and contribute as much as I can,’ Nadal wrote on Instagram.
A lifelong Real Madrid supporter, Nadal has been an honorary member of the club since March 2017.
In a statement confirming his appointment, Real Madrid described the former world No. 1 as a major figure in Spanish and global sport whose sporting achievements and personal qualities reflect the club’s values.
‘For Real Madrid and for all madridistas, it is an immense honour that a figure of his sporting and human stature, a reference in Spanish and global sports, joins our Board of Directors and contributes, from this role, to the present and future of our club,’ the club said.
Nadal retired from professional tennis in 2024 after winning 22 Grand Slam titles, including a record 14 French Open crowns. He also won 36 Masters titles and two Olympic gold medals during his illustrious career.
His appointment is subject to ratification at Real Madrid’s General Assembly scheduled for November 21.
