Anthony Joshua set for £70m payday in shock Jake Paul fight
Anthony Joshua is on the brink of sealing one of the most lucrative bouts of his career, with reports suggesting the former heavyweight champion could pocket £70 million to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Miami this December.
According to the Daily Mail, organisers are preparing a £140 million prize pot, split evenly between the two fighters, as negotiations intensify over the blockbuster showdown.
The fight would mark Joshua’s return to the ring after a 14-month hiatus, following his shock stoppage defeat to Daniel Dubois last September.
One of the sticking points remains broadcasting rights. Paul’s fight against Mike Tyson last year drew a staggering 60 million viewers on Netflix, and promoters are keen to replicate that success.
Joshua, however, is tied to DAZN, meaning any deal will require delicate negotiations between streaming giants.
Promoter Eddie Hearn admitted talks are ongoing but cautioned against premature excitement.
‘It is not done yet. Jake Paul would be mad to take the fight, but we are in talks. We were discussing a very low-key fight for AJ, but an opportunity has come up to make 50 times more money.’
If finalised, the clash would be one of the most commercially explosive events in recent boxing history, pitting a former world champion against a social media star in a contest that promises spectacle, controversy, and staggering financial rewards.
