Díaz Beats Osimhen, Salah to Claim AFCON 2025 Golden Boot

Morocco’s Brahim Díaz has etched his name into African football history after winning the Puma Golden Boot at the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025.
The Real Madrid forward finished the tournament as the top scorer with five goals, beating Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen and Egypt’s Mohammed Salah to the prestigious award.
Díaz’s achievement is particularly remarkable as he also emerged as the leading scorer in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers, completing a rare double that highlights his consistency and importance to the Atlas Lions.
Despite Morocco’s defeat in the final to Senegal, no other player matched his tally, ensuring the Golden Boot belonged to the Moroccan talisman.
His scoring run was defined by reliability at every stage of the competition. He opened Morocco’s account in a 2–0 win against Comoros, struck again in a 1–1 draw with Mali, and delivered a brace against Zambia to secure a dominant group-stage victory.
In the knockout rounds, Díaz continued his form with goals against Tanzania in the Round of 16 and Cameroon in the quarterfinals, joining an elite list of players to score in multiple consecutive matches at a single AFCON.
