Lookman Crowned AFCON 2025 Top Assist Provider

Ademola Lookman has claimed the distinction of being the top assist provider at the 2025/26 Africa Cup of Nations, which concluded on Sunday in Rabat with Senegal lifting their second continental title.

The Nigerian winger, who plays for Serie A side Atalanta in Italy, registered four assists during the tournament, the highest by any player in Morocco.

Lookman’s creative brilliance was on full display in Nigeria’s group stage clash against Tunisia, where he set up two goals in a thrilling 3–2 victory.

He repeated the feat in the Round of 16, contributing two more assists in the Super Eagles’ emphatic 4–0 demolition of Mozambique.

Across two AFCON final tournaments, Lookman has now provided five assists in 13 appearances.

His first came during the 2024 edition in Côte d’Ivoire, when he set up Victor Osimhen’s goal in the 38th minute of Nigeria’s opening match against Guinea-Bissau.

Notably, three of Lookman’s five assists have been for Osimhen, highlighting a potent attacking partnership that has become central to Nigeria’s forward play.
