Adeniyi Kayode, driver of Anthony Joshua’s ill-fated car appears in court for ‘reckless driving’

Adeniyi Kayode, the driver of the Lexus SUV conveying heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, and two of his late friends, appeared before a Sagamu Magistrate Court in Ogun State on Tuesday, for the continuation of his trial.

The 46-year-old driver is facing charges bordering on “reckless driving”, which resulted in a head-on collision with a stationary truck parked on a distressed lane, resulting in the deaths of Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on December 29, 2025.

Kayode, who was charged to court on January 2 over the matter, was granted bail for ₦5,000,000 with two sureties.

Joshua sustained a minor injury in the crash and was discharged after receiving treatment at a Lagos hospital.

The remains of his associates, Latif and Ghami, were flown back to the United Kingdom for burial at Hendon Cemetery after funeral prayers at a London Central Mosque.
