Osimhen Eyes Manchester City Showdown After Atlético Madrid Draw

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is already looking ahead to Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash against Manchester City after making his return in the 1-1 draw against Atlético Madrid in Istanbul.
The game was his first appearance for the Turkish side since the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Osimhen, who was named in the starting lineup, admitted how much he had missed the club during his time away.
‘Of course, I missed everyone, especially the fans, very much. We knew before the match that we would be playing against a strong opponent,’ he said.
Reflecting on the performance, the former African Footballer of the Year praised his teammates for their resilience. ‘I congratulate my teammates for their fight throughout the 90 minutes; we did a good job against a great opponent. The match was 50-50. We had chances to finish the game in some moments. I’m happy with our performance,’ he added.
The result leaves Galatasaray in 17th place in the League Phase, but Osimhen remains upbeat about the challenge ahead.
He described Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City as ‘one of the best teams in the world’ but insisted Galatasaray would approach the fixture with confidence.
‘We’ll take it one game at a time. We’ll focus on the league first, then on that game. It won’t be easy, but I trust my team. I’m looking at it positively. We can get something out of it. The most important thing is to have a good game, like we did against Atlético,’ Osimhen stated.
