CAF Confirms Lookman Best Playmaker, Super Eagles Top Scorers at AFCON 2025

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman as the Best Playmaker of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after registering four assists in the tournament.

Despite finishing third, the Super Eagles left a strong imprint on the competition with their attacking flair and dominance across several statistical categories.

Nigeria recorded five consecutive victories, the longest winning run of the tournament, and emerged as the highest-scoring team with 14 goals.

They also boasted the highest average possession rate at 66 percent, underlining their control and creativity throughout the competition.

In total, the tournament produced 121 goals, with Nigeria contributing significantly to that tally.

Lookman’s recognition as Best Playmaker capped off a campaign that showcased the Super Eagles’ offensive strength, even though they fell short of reaching the final.

Their third-place finish, combined with individual and team accolades, reaffirmed Nigeria’s status as one of the continent’s most formidable sides.
