NOC Celebrates Omidiran’s Appointment as FCC Chair, Hails Her Leadership Legacy

Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), has extended warm congratulations to Chief Ayo Omidiran following her appointment as Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).
Omidiran, widely respected as one of the sporting community’s finest administrators, was officially sworn into office on Thursday, January 22, 2026, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Her appointment marks a new chapter in a distinguished career that has spanned decades of service to Nigerian sports.
From her influential role on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Board to her transformative leadership as Chairperson of the Women’s Football Committee, Omidiran has consistently championed the growth of the game and the empowerment of women in sports.
As proprietor of her own female football club, she has invested deeply in nurturing future generations of athletes. At 62, her wealth of wisdom and administrative expertise make her an ideal fit for the FCC, where she is expected to bring fairness, equity, and progress to national governance.
Gumel emphasized that her elevation to such a prominent federal role reflects the caliber of leadership nurtured within the NOC and the wider sports fraternity.
‘Cheers to a successful tenure for Hon. Ayo Omidiran,’ he remarked, celebrating her achievement as a collective triumph for Nigerian sports and the nation at large.
