Pregnant Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone to Miss 2026 Season as She Prepares for Motherhood

World 400m champion and Olympic 400m hurdles record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has announced she is expecting her first child.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, McLaughlin-Levrone wrote: Made a human with my favorite human, alongside a photo with her husband, Andre Levrone Jr.
She added, ‘Oh, how we have prayed for you… and the Lord has answered! You are our greatest blessing and are already so loved. We are eagerly waiting to meet you! Cool parents loading…’
McLaughlin-Levrone has dominated the track in recent years, winning back-to-back Olympic titles in the 400m hurdles while setting world records, the latest at 50.37 seconds.
In 2023, she transitioned to the 400m flat and stunned the athletics world by winning the World Championships in 47.78 seconds, becoming the first woman to dip under 48 seconds since 1985.
Her pregnancy means she may miss the 2026 season, including the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championships, which promise $150,000 first prizes for winners.
