Fulham offer €4m for defender Calvin Bassey

According to Homme Du Match, Fulham have made a €4m (£3m) bid for Rangers defender Calvin Bassey.

This offer comes in the wake of the Europa League final, which was a star-making performance from the defender.

Indeed, Bassey put in what could be described as a Man of the Match showing against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday evening, and it’s no shock to hear that Rangers are having to bat off interest after that showing.

Bassey was described as a ‘superstar’ after his Europa League display, and now, he could be headed to the Premier League with Fulham.

The Whites’ backline certainly needs some major surgery. Tim Ream has been a fantastic servant for the club, but he’s proven that he’s not quite cut out for Premier League football in the past, while the likes of Michael Hector and Alfie Mawson seem set to leave the club when their contract expire next month.

If Fulham are to stay in the Premier League, they need to build from the back, and the addition of Bassey would certainly help them shore up that backline.

Of course, getting Bassey out of Rangers is easier said than done, and it would be something of a surprise if Rangers accepted a bid as low as €4m for the defender, especially after his Europa League final performance.
