Atletico Madrid Misses Out as Fenerbahce Closes in on €40m Lookman Deal

Ademola Lookman’s time at Atalanta appears to be nearing its end, with Fenerbahce moving decisively to secure the Nigerian forward in a deal worth €40 million.

The Turkish giants have tabled an offer structured as €35 million in fixed fees plus €5 million in bonuses, exactly matching Atalanta’s asking price.

An operational meeting was held on Friday between Atalanta’s management and Fenerbahce representatives, and if the figures are confirmed in writing, the transfer is expected to be finalized.

Lookman, who has been a key figure for Atalanta but recently endured a difficult spell in the Champions League, could soon be unveiled in Istanbul as the centerpiece of Fenerbahce’s attacking ambitions.

Atletico Madrid had shown interest in the 28-year-old, but their approach came too late and lacked the financial weight to compete.

The Spanish side now looks set to miss out, leaving Fenerbahce in pole position to complete one of the biggest moves of the Turkish Super Lig this season.
