Gyökeres Voted Premier League Player of Matchweek 27 After North London Derby Heroics

Arsenal forward Viktor Gyökeres has been voted Premier League Player of the Matchweek for Matchweek 27 after his commanding performance in the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Swedish striker delivered a superb centre-forward’s display, scoring twice in Arsenal’s emphatic 4-1 victory.

Gyökeres restored the Gunners’ lead just two minutes into the second half with a thunderous right-footed strike into the top-right corner.

He then sealed the win in stoppage time, wrapping up the scoring and taking his tally of Premier League goals this season to ten.

Gyökeres becomes the fourth Arsenal player to claim the accolade this season, following Eberechi Eze in Matchweek 12, Leandro Trossard in Matchweek 19, and Declan Rice in Matchweek 20.

His recognition underscores Arsenal’s dominance in recent weeks and the impact of their attacking depth.

The Arsenal forward topped the fan poll with 35 percent of the vote. His closest challenger, Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly, secured 22 percent.

Arsenal midfielder Eberechi Eze followed with 20 percent, while Leeds United’s Anton Stach, Brighton’s James Milner, Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson, and Fulham forward Raul Jimenez rounded out the nominees with smaller shares.

Gyökeres’ award comes at a crucial stage of the season, reinforcing Arsenal’s momentum as they continue their push for Premier League glory.
