Wolves Cancel Training After Tolu Arokodare Refuses to Leave Session
Wolverhampton Wanderers were forced to cancel a training session after Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare reportedly refused to leave the club’s training ground despite being told he would not train with the senior squad.
Arokodare has been linked with Fiorentina and Trabzonspor this summer, with the 25-year-old reportedly favouring a move to Italy as Wolves seek to offload him.
The striker joined Wolves for around £24 million last summer but scored only three Premier League goals in 33 appearances as the club finished bottom of the table and were relegated to the Championship.
According to reports, Arokodare was told not to train with the senior group on Monday but refused to leave, leading to the cancellation of the session. Wolves reportedly increased security at Compton Park on Tuesday to prevent the striker from entering the training ground.
The incident comes as new head coach César Peixoto prepares for his first public appearance in charge when Wolves face Maidenhead United on Wednesday.
With the club targeting an immediate return to the Premier League, Arokodare is reportedly not part of Peixoto’s plans for the new season, and Wolves are now expected to continue exploring a permanent transfer for the Nigerian forward.
