Arokodare Bags First EPL Assist in Wolves’ Shock Win Over Liverpool

Tolu Arokodare marked a milestone moment in his Premier League career as he registered his first-ever assist in Wolves’ dramatic 2-1 victory over reigning champions Liverpool at Molineux.

The Nigerian forward, who started from the bench, made an immediate impact in the 78th minute. He expertly brought down a long ball before laying it off to substitute Rodrigo Gomes, who calmly slotted past Alisson to give Wolves the lead with their very first shot of the game.

Liverpool thought they had rescued a point when Mohamed Salah ended his four-month league goal drought in the 83rd minute. But deep into stoppage time, André’s deflected strike off Joe Gomez sealed an unlikely win for Wolves, leaving Arne Slot’s side stunned once again by a late goal.

The victory carried historic weight. Wolves became the first team to defeat the reigning Premier League champions while sitting bottom of the table since October 2017, when Crystal Palace overcame Chelsea 2-1 at Selhurst Park.

For Arokodare, it was another step forward in his adaptation to English football. Since joining Wolves from Belgian side KRC Genk last summer, he has already scored twice in the competition. Now, with his first assist added to his tally, the 25-year-old continues to show promise as he settles into life in the Premier League.
