Noah Igbinoghene, born November 27, 1999, in Trussville, Alabama, is an American football cornerback for the Washington Commanders in the NFL. His journey to professional football is inseparable from the extraordinary sporting pedigree of his family.
His father, Festus Igbinoghene, was a jumper for Nigeria. Festus recorded a lifetime best of 16.97m in the triple jump and 8.04m in the long jump, with a wind-aided mark of 8.22m.
He represented Nigeria at the 1995 World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden, and at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
His mother, Faith Idehen, was equally accomplished. She was part of Nigeria’s 4x100m relay team that won bronze at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, alongside Beatrice Utondu, Christy Opara Thompson, and Mary Onyali.
Faith also claimed gold in the 4x100m relay at the 1994 Commonwealth Games and silver at the 1993 World University Games. She has a lifetime best of 11.27 in the 100m.
Growing up in such an environment, Noah naturally gravitated toward sports.
At Hewitt-Trussville High School, he excelled as a wide receiver, amassing over 1,700 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns in his senior year, while also dominating track and field with eight state titles in the long jump and triple jump.
At Auburn University, he made the bold switch from wide receiver to cornerback, quickly establishing himself as a defensive force.
His versatility and athleticism earned him a first-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. He has since played for the Dallas Cowboys and now continues his career with the Washington Commanders.
