Ezechukwu Shines with Sprint Double, Akolo Rules Youth Boys Sprints at MTN CHAMPS, Jimoh Storms to 200/400m Double 

Miracle Ezechukwu lit up the track in Calabar, completing the sprint double with victory in the U20 women’s 200m at the U.J. Esuene Stadium.

She came agonizingly close to her personal best of 23.40s, crossing the line in a season’s best of 23.47s (+0.8).

Chigozie Rosemary Nwankwo followed with a breakthrough run, clocking 23.79s for second place, her first time under 24 seconds, while Etieno Israel claimed third in a personal best of 24.60s.

In the U20 men’s 200m final, Liberty Okon also secured his second crown in Calabar, dipping under 22 seconds for the first time with a new personal best of 21.90s. Michael Aniche finished runner-up in 22.16s, and Israel Okon took third in 22.28s.

Team MTN’s Emmanuel Akolo dominated the Youth Boys sprints, adding the 200m title to his 100m victory earlier in the meet.

He stormed to gold in a season’s best of 22.45s (-0.2), ahead of teammate Fervent Edet in 23.48s and Daniel Okwokwo, who ran a personal best of 24.27s for third.

Meanwhile, Toheebat Jimoh, fresh off her Junior 400m triumph, showcased her versatility by claiming the 200m crown.

The African bronze medallist powered to victory in a new personal best of 24.51s, improving on her previous mark of 24.70s set at the 2023 U18 Nigerian Trials.

Her teammate Miracle Donald secured silver in 24.59s, while Odot Udo completed the podium in 24.88s.
