Kwara United Relocate to Mobolaji Johnson Arena for NPFL Home Matches

Kwara United will now play their Nigeria Premier Football League home fixtures at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, following approval from the league’s management.

The decision comes after the club was handed an indefinite stadium ban, forcing them to move away from Ilorin for the remainder of the season.

The ban was imposed after crowd disturbances during their rescheduled Matchday 23 clash against Rivers United.

Seeking fairness and to avoid potential conflicts, Kwara United requested a change of venue, citing concerns that playing in Abeokuta could create tensions with rival fans, especially with fellow Ogun State side Remo Stars also battling relegation.

Their appeal was granted through a letter signed by NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi, confirming the adoption of the Onikan ground as their new home.

Kwara United will begin life at the Lagos venue with a Matchday 30 encounter against Rangers International on Sunday, March 15.
