Kanu Urges Enyimba Fans to Stay with Club in Tough Times

Enyimba chairman and FIFA Ambassador, Kanu Nwankwo, has urged the club’s supporters to remain behind the team as they seek to turn around their difficult start to the season.

The former Super Eagles captain acknowledged the disappointment surrounding the team’s recent results but called on the fans to continue supporting the nine-time Nigerian champions.

‘Hard times are not forever, they come and go,’ Kanu said in a message to the club’s supporters.

Kanu said the club understood the weight of the disappointing losses, particularly the recent home defeat to Inter Lagos, where fans turned out in the rain to support the team until the final whistle.

‘The times have not been most favourable. We understand the weight of the disappointing losses and we are determined to make things right,’ he said.

‘In the rain, you came out to support us against Inter Lagos. Though it did not go our way, you supported us till the final minute and we do not take that support for granted.’

Enyimba are yet to record their first win of the season, with their next opportunity coming at home against Sporting Lagos on Wednesday.

Kanu described the fixture as an important opportunity for the club to begin its resurgence.

‘Next for us is a home game against Sporting Lagos on Wednesday as we seek our first win of the season. A win can be a propeller,’ he said.

The Enyimba chairman also appealed to supporters to maintain their faith in the team, insisting that the club would work to restore its winning culture.

‘We are used to victories and we are proud of that culture. Come, cheer us to victory as we kick off a resurgence. We will get it right,’ Kanu added.
