Maduka Okoye Grateful for Nigerian Support, Thriving at Udinese

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has expressed his gratitude to Nigerian fans for their unwavering support throughout his career, while also affirming his happiness at Serie A side Udinese.

In an interview with SportyTV, the 26-year-old shot-stopper described his time in Italy as a rewarding chapter, noting that he feels settled and content in his third season with the club.

‘I’m very happy here. It’s my third season already and I’m having a great time,’ Okoye said.

The former Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper emphasized the importance of the backing he has consistently received from Nigerians, even while playing abroad.

‘It means a lot that Nigerians always support you. From my days in Düsseldorf to Rotterdam and now in Udine, they were always there. I’m very grateful and thankful,’ he stated.

Looking ahead, Okoye outlined his ambitions both personally and professionally, stressing his determination to maximize his potential and help Udinese achieve a strong finish this season.

‘As an athlete, I want to get the best out of myself. With this club, I want to finish the season as high as possible in the best way,’ he explained.

Okoye also reflected on his deep ties to Nigeria, crediting his upbringing and family influence for keeping him connected to his heritage.

‘I grew up in Germany, but my father was very present in my life, especially in my early years. I keep a lot of Nigerian inside of me, and I’m very proud of it,’ he added.
