NBBF Announces Exhibition Game Between D’Tigress and WNBA’s Sparks

The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has announced that Nigeria’s Senior Women’s National Team, D’Tigress, will take on the Los Angeles Sparks in an international pre-season exhibition game on April 25, 2026, at Viejas Arena, San Diego, California.

This matchup, part of the Sparks’ official pre-season slate, marks the first-ever meeting between D’Tigress and the storied WNBA franchise.

D’Tigress enter the showcase as multiple-time AfroBasket champions and Africa’s highest-ranked women’s team.

Over the past seven years, the program has built a legacy of sustained success, combining domestic talent with diaspora integration to create a high-performance system that competes at the highest levels globally.

The U.S. camp and exhibition series form part of a strategic calendar designed to prepare the team for upcoming international competitions, including the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifiers.

Beyond the game, the NBBF has confirmed additional engagements such as community clinics and media activations to strengthen Nigeria’s global basketball footprint.

This initiative also aligns with the Federation’s broader commercial strategy, supported by partnerships with organizations like XE Jet and other corporate stakeholders.

These collaborations are enhancing player welfare, expanding international exposure, and ensuring sustainable development across national teams and grassroots programs.

Looking ahead, D’Tigress will continue their U.S. tour with further games and camps as they build toward a critical competitive cycle in 2026.
