D’Tigress Draw Hungary, Korea, France in FIBA Women’s World Cup Group B

Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have learned their path to glory at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 in Berlin, after being drawn in Group B alongside Hungary, Korea, and France.

The tournament, which runs from September 4-13, will feature 16 of the world’s best national teams, expanded from 12 in the previous edition.

D’Tigress will open their campaign against Korea on September 4, before facing Hungary and France in what promises to be a fiercely competitive group.

The format sees the top team in each group qualify directly for the quarter-finals, while the second- and third-placed sides will battle in single-game eliminations to join them.

Nigeria will be aiming to replicate their continental dominance on the global stage, with the squad determined to prove themselves against Europe’s finest.

The draw ceremony in Berlin was conducted by Australian legend Lauren Jackson, assisted by German handball icon Stefan Kretzschmar and breakdancer Jilou, with FIBA Hall of Famer Sue Bird presenting the trophy.

Group A: Japan, Spain, Germany, Mali

Group B: Hungary, Korea, Nigeria, France

Group C: Belgium, Australia, Puerto Rico, Türkiye

Group D: USA, Czechia, Italy, China
