Adamu, Ekeji, Igali Top List as NSC Unveils Team Nigeria Ambassadors for Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026
The National Sports Commission (NSC) has unveiled Team Nigeria Ambassadors for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The announcement reflects Nigeria’s preparations for a strong showing at the global multi-sport event scheduled from July 23 to August 2, 2026.
The list of ambassadors approved by the Commission includes prominent figures in sports administration such as Mallam Saleh Ahmadu, Dr. Amos Adamu, Chief Patrick Ekeji, Alhassan Yakmut, and Gbenga Elegbeleye.
All five previously served as Director General of the NSC, bringing extensive experience to Nigeria’s delegation.
Also named are former elite athletes and stakeholders, including Olympic gold medalist Daniel Igali, wrestler Blessing Oborodudu, Tajudeen Ogunbade, Khadijat Sulaiman, and Victor Iroele.
Corporate and institutional representation is included through Premium Trust Bank and the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs, Wale Adeniyi.
Announcing the ambassadors, NSC Director General Bukola Olopade said the appointments combine administrative expertise, athlete representation, and corporate partnership.
‘This delegation will play a vital role in supporting Team Nigeria’s preparations and ensuring our athletes are well represented on the global stage,’ he stated.
The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will feature 10 sports, including athletics, swimming, boxing, cycling, and gymnastics, with full integration of para-sports.
