Can Onuachu End Trabzonspor’s 8-Year Wait for a Win vs Galatasaray?

The spotlight will be firmly on Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu Saturday night as Trabzonspor host Galatasaray in a crucial Week 28 clash of the Trendyol Süper Lig.
The towering striker is being tipped as the man who could finally break an eight-year jinx: Trabzonspor have not beaten Galatasaray in the league since their famous 4–0 victory in September 2018.
Onuachu, who has been in fine form this season, has never scored against the Yellow-Reds. He has only faced them once in the Süper Lig, a match that ended without him finding the net.
On Saturday night, with Trabzonspor riding a five-match winning streak, the Nigerian is expected to lead the line and carry the hopes of the Black Sea faithful.
The stakes could not be higher. Galatasaray, the league leaders, arrive in Trabzon determined to protect their advantage in the title race, even as they deal with key absences including Victor Osimhen and Leroy Sané.
Trabzonspor, meanwhile, are chasing a sixth consecutive victory, which would mark their best run in 161 weeks.
Coach Abdullah Avcı is banking on Onuachu’s aerial power and finishing to unsettle Galatasaray’s defense.
‘We know what this match means to our supporters. Onuachu has the quality to make the difference,’ a team source said ahead of the game.
