Queiroz: Coaching Ghana Is a Mission, Not a Job

Newly appointed Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz has described his role as a mission to serve Ghana’s footballing soul, pledging total commitment as he prepares the team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In his first message to Ghanaians following confirmation of his appointment, the Portuguese coach expressed gratitude to the Ghana Football Association and promised to give everything in service of the national team.

‘It is with a deep sense of gratitude to GFA, responsibility and humility that I embrace this new chapter with the National Football Team of Ghana,’ Queiroz said in his message posted on Ghana FA website.

He emphasized that his task goes beyond a contract, calling it a mission to unite and inspire.

‘Ghana is a nation of talent, pride, and footballing soul. I arrive with respect for its history and belief in its future. Together, with unity, discipline, and ambition, we will work to honour the expectations of a great football nation.

‘This is not just another job, it is a mission. And I am ready to give everything of my experience and knowledge once again, in service of the game and the happiness of People.’

Queiroz, who has managed at the highest levels across the world, said his career has been shaped by challenges and unforgettable journeys, and he intends to bring that experience to Ghana.

His message concluded with optimism: ‘To the future.’
