‘Everything Else Can Wait’: SuperSport Unveils Comprehensive FIFA World Cup 2026 Coverage Plan for Africa
SuperSport, Africa’s leading sports broadcaster, has announced an unprecedented coverage plan for the FIFA World Cup 2026, ensuring that all 104 matches will be broadcast live across DStv and GOtv platforms.
The tournament, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico from 11 June to 19 July 2026, will feature 48 nations for the first time.
Africa will make history with a record 10 teams qualifying: Ghana, South Africa, Senegal, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, and DR Congo.
SuperSport Chief Executive Officer Rendani Ramovha emphasized the broadcaster’s commitment to delivering the most accessible World Cup yet for African audiences.
‘We have built our FIFA World Cup coverage around four major pillars: unmatched scale, unprecedented accessibility, championing African pride and participation, and making a clear statement for Africa on the global stage,’ he said.
To achieve this, SuperSport will launch four dedicated World Cup channels, offering coverage in English and Portuguese, with broadcasts available in seven languages. Special features will include preview shows, live events, studio programming, and cultural segments tailored to African audiences.
The campaign theme, ‘Everything Else Can Wait’, underscores the significance of the tournament.
The campaign was recently launched with a surprise on-air appearance by Idris Elba, who revealed that all matches will be available live on DStv and GOtv.
More celebrity appearances, studio guests, and special partnerships are expected in the lead-up to the event.
With Africa sending its largest-ever delegation to the World Cup and expanded access across multiple markets, SuperSport is preparing to deliver one of the most ambitious football broadcasts in its history.
