Falconets Wrap Up Abuja Camp, Head to Ikenne for Malawi Clash
Nigeria’s U20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets, have concluded a rigorous three-week training camp in Abuja as they prepare for their decisive FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifying fixture against Malawi.
The squad will move to Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, on Sunday ahead of the first leg of the final qualifying round scheduled for Saturday, May 2.
Head Coach Moses Aduku expressed confidence in the team’s readiness, highlighting their discipline and tactical sharpness.
‘The girls have shown great character and determination. We have worked extensively on tactics, fitness, and cohesion. I am optimistic they will rise to the occasion,’ he said.
Captain Joy Igbokwe echoed the sentiment, urging Nigerians to rally behind the team.
‘We are fully prepared and focused. We ask for prayers and support as we aim to make the country proud,’ she stated.
The Falconets, who have featured in every edition of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup since its inception in 2002, will be seeking a strong first-leg advantage as they chase qualification for the 2026 finals in Poland, scheduled for September 5-26.
