‘I Wouldn’t Sell Osimhen for 150m Euros,’ says Galatasaray Sporting Director Kavukcu

Galatasaray’s sporting director Abdullah Kavukcu has revealed stunning details about the club’s record-breaking acquisition of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, a move that has left even Arsenal’s sporting director astonished.

Speaking to HT Spor, Kavukcu admitted that the transfer shocked the football world.

‘Not people from Turkey, no one in the world believed in our acquisition of Osimhen. There was an offer of 90 million Euros from another club, but Osimhen said, ‘Even if they offer 100 million Euros, I will not go; I will come to Galatasaray.’’

Kavukcu credited the fans and the club’s leadership for making the dream possible, noting that Galatasaray paid 75 million Euros to secure the deal.

Kavukcu described how Galatasaray’s president personally guaranteed the financial package when Napoli demanded upfront assurances.

‘My president came, he gave the direct guarantee from his company. This is not something that everyone can do.’

The sporting director emphasized Osimhen’s importance, saying he personally wouldn’t let the striker go even for 150 million Euros, though the final decision rests with the club president.

Kavukcu revealed that Arsenal’s sporting director was stunned by Galatasaray’s spending power.

‘Their budget is 800 million Euros. We will have a budget of 500 million Euros this year.’

The Nigerian star is set to continue at Galatasaray, with the club expecting 22 million Euros in revenue from his presence, plus 6 million Euros from advertising deals tied to his image. Kavukcu concluded: ‘The Osimhen transfer has added a lot to us, we have been rewarded for our horizon.’
