Rivers United Drag NPFL Title Fight to the Wire

Rivers United produced a spirited comeback to defeat Wikki Tourists 3-2 in Bauchi, keeping the Nigeria Premier Football League title race alive until the final day.
The thrilling Matchday 37 clash at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium saw the home side strike first in the 21st minute through Mairiga J., before Handsome Surveyor equalised for Rivers United in the 35th minute.
Wikki regained the lead just after the restart when Imamu B. scored in the 47th minute, but Rivers United responded again with Chijioke Mbaoma levelling in the 59th minute.
The decisive moment came in the 83rd minute when Taofeek Otaniyi fired home to complete the comeback and secure all three points for Finidi George’s side.
The victory means Rivers United have qualified to represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League next season.
More importantly, it keeps them within one point of league leaders Rangers International heading into the final matchday, ensuring the NPFL title fight will go down to the wire.
