Nigeria’s Falconets Draw Spain, China PR in FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup
The draw for the 12th edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup has been conducted in Lodz, Poland, setting the stage for an exciting tournament from 5 to 27 September 2026.
Nigeria’s Falconets, Africa’s most consistent force at youth level, have been placed in Group F alongside Spain, China PR, and debutants New Caledonia.
This marks another opportunity for Nigeria to showcase its pedigree on the global stage, having reached multiple finals in past editions.
The Falconets will face a stern test against Spain, one of Europe’s strongest youth sides, while China PR brings Asian flair and New Caledonia adds fresh energy as first-time participants.
Hosts Poland headline Group A with Mexico, Argentina, and Benin, while reigning champions Korea DPR begin their title defence in Group E against Colombia, Costa Rica, and Portugal.
Other standout fixtures include Brazil vs England in Group B and a repeat of past classics between Japan and USA in Group D.
The tournament will be contested across four Polish cities, Bielsko-Biała, Katowice, Lodz, and Sosnowiec, marking Poland’s first-ever major global women’s football event.
Six nations, including Benin, Ecuador, New Caledonia, Portugal, Tanzania, and hosts Poland, will make their debut.
Nigeria’s Falconets, who have consistently flown Africa’s flag high, will be aiming to break new ground and finally capture the elusive world crown.
