President Tinubu Hails Rangers’ Ninth League Triumph

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Rangers International Football Club of Enugu on clinching the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title for a record ninth time.

The President praised the managers, players, and loyal fans of the Enugu-based side for their outstanding performance throughout the season, finishing top of the table with 68 points from 38 matches, ahead of closest rivals Rivers United.

Recalling the club’s illustrious history, President Tinubu highlighted Rangers’ dominance in the 1970s and 1980s, when they won multiple league and FA Cup titles.

He noted their remarkable run to the finals of the African Cup of Champions Clubs in 1975 and their victory in the African Cup Winners’ Cup in 1977.

‘I must also congratulate Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State on the victory of Rangers International FC. This triumph is an obvious fruit of his administration’s investments in youth and sports in the state. I commend him,’ the President said.

He further emphasized Rangers’ legacy as one of Nigeria’s oldest clubs, having produced some of the nation’s finest footballers who went on to shine on the global stage.

‘I am proud of their achievement,’ he added.

President Tinubu also commended Rivers United for their excellent performance and sportsmanship throughout the campaign.

He extended his best wishes to both Rangers International and Rivers United as they prepare to represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League.
