FIFA World Cup 2026: Cunha Brace Sends Brazil Top, Haiti Eliminated

Brazil moved to the top of Group C at the FIFA World Cup 2026 after a commanding 3-0 victory over Haiti at Philadelphia Stadium on Friday night.

Brazil added a third just before halftime when Vinicius Jr turned scorer, calmly finishing Lucas Paqueta’s pass in stoppage time.

The Seleção managed the second half with authority, creating further chances but failing to add to their tally. Gabriel Martinelli struck the crossbar with a curling effort, while Endrick had a goal ruled out for offside.

Haiti battled bravely in search of their first goal of the tournament but were unable to find a way past goalkeeper Alisson.

With this defeat, Haiti’s campaign will conclude against Morocco on June 24, while Brazil face Scotland the same day in Miami in a match that could decide the group’s outcome.

The victory lifted Brazil above Morocco on goal difference, with both sides level on four points.

Cunha’s brace also carried historical significance, as his first goal marked only his second senior international strike and helped Brazil surpass Germany as the highest-scoring nation in World Cup history, with 240 goals.

Vinicius Jr was named Player of the Match for his decisive contributions as both creator and scorer.
