Fans Launch Petition Apologizing to Mbappé
France Captain Silences Critics with Record-Breaking World Cup

A viral petition titled ‘Kylian Mbappé, please forgive us’ has surpassed 30,000 signatures, as fans rally behind the France captain following his record-breaking performances at the FIFA World Cup.
For years, Mbappé faced criticism over his defensive work rate, but his dazzling form this summer has silenced detractors. Petition organizers admitted, ‘France has behaved badly. We doubted, we criticized, we were ungrateful. It’s time to make amends.’
The 27-year-old forward has scored six goals at this tournament, leaving him just one shy of Lionel Messi’s all-time World Cup record of 19.
He also became France’s all-time leading scorer, surpassing Olivier Giroud, and earned his 100th cap during the group stage, where Les Bleus defeated Norway, Senegal, and Iraq.
Mbappé’s brilliance continued in the knockout rounds, as France swept past Sweden 3-0 in the Round of 32.
His two goals in that match set a new World Cup record with nine knockout-stage strikes, surpassing Brazilian legends Leonidas and Ronaldo.
France now turn their focus to Paraguay, whom they will face in Philadelphia on July 4.
