CAF Opens Bidding for AFCON 2028, 2032 and 2036
The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has officially launched the bidding process for its 54 Member Associations to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2028, 2032 and 2036.
The announcement underscores CAF’s commitment to transparency and global best practices, with the framework developed in partnership with PwC and independent technical, financial and legal advisers to ensure a fair and credible selection process.
AFCON, Africa’s premier football competition, continues to grow in international stature, attracting more than 3.2 billion television viewers and 6 billion digital views worldwide.
The tournament has become one of the most-watched sporting events globally, showcasing African football talent on the biggest stage.
CAF also reaffirmed that the CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027 will be staged jointly by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from 19 June to 17 July 2027.
This will mark the first time the tournament is hosted across three East African nations, reflecting CAF’s drive to expand the reach and inclusivity of African football.
The opening of the bidding process for the subsequent editions signals CAF’s long-term vision to strengthen the tournament’s legacy and provide opportunities for diverse nations to host Africa’s flagship competition.
