Amorim Rules Out Chukwueze Exit as AC Milan Plans for New Season
AC Milan manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze will remain at the Serie A club for the 2026/27 season, bringing an end to speculation over the player’s future.
Chukwueze spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Premier League side Fulham, where he scored three goals and provided four assists in 26 appearances across all competitions.
Fulham opted not to make the move permanent after AC Milan reportedly maintained a €24 million valuation for the Super Eagles star.
The 27-year-old had recently been linked with a move to Turkey, but Amorim dismissed suggestions of an imminent departure, insisting that Chukwueze remains an important part of his plans for the new season.
“Chukwu is staying with us. We need players who can play one-on-one, literally,” Amorim said.
The Portuguese coach added that the club would first assess its current squad before considering any further transfer activity.
“Saelemaekers can play on the left or right. Cisse and Comotto will start preseason with us, but after that I really have no idea what will happen,” he said.
“But it doesn’t matter where the players come from. If they play well, if they absorb the coaching, and if they have the right qualities to fill that gap, then we’ll find a place within the team.
“Before we look outside, let’s take a good look inside. Then at the end of preseason we’ll see what’s happened, paying close attention to the budget. I think Chukwueze has truly great qualities to be in our team, and he gives us options to play in other systems.”
