Boniface Makes First Leverkusen Appearance Since August

Gets Three Minutes As Bundesliga Side Beat Nuremberg 5-2

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface made his first appearance for Bayer Leverkusen since August, coming off the bench for the final three minutes of their 5-2 victory over FC Nuremberg in the second round of the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday.

The Nigerian had been restricted to just five minutes of action in Leverkusen’s opening Bundesliga match of the season, a 3-2 defeat to SV Elversberg, before finally returning to the pitch against Nuremberg.

Boniface’s brief cameo means he has played only eight minutes of competitive football for Leverkusen in regulation time this season.

The return offers the striker an opportunity to build his fitness and work towards a more substantial role in the team as the campaign progresses.
