Zenith Bank/NBBF Women’s League: Dolphins Begin Title Defence Against First Deep Water

Defending champions Dolphins Women Basketball Club will begin their quest for back-to-back titles when the NBBF/Zenith Bank Women’s Premier Basketball League tips off on Sunday, August 16, at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

Dolphins will face First Deep Water in their opening fixture as the Atlantic Conference gets the new season underway.

The champions defeated MFM in last year’s final to end the Olukoya Girls’ two-year reign after MFM had won consecutive titles in 2023 and 2024.

The opening day will also feature a meeting between IGP Queens and newcomers Victoria Queens, while record champions First Bank will face Royal Aces.

Two-time champions MFM will battle Bayelsa Blue Whales, with the highly anticipated clash between MFM and First Bank scheduled for August 22.

The Atlantic Conference first phase will run from August 16 to 22, with participating teams expected to arrive on Saturday, August 15.

Attention will then shift to the Savannah Conference, which tips off on Tuesday, August 18, at the Basketball Arena, Rayfield, Jos. Air Warriors will open against Kada Angels, while Nasarawa Amazons face Ham Warriors, Titans take on Nigeria Customs and Aso Sky Queens meet Plateau Rocks.

The Savannah Conference first phase will run until August 24, as the country’s leading women’s basketball clubs begin their battle for a place in the latter stages of the competition and ultimately the league championship.
