MFM Women Remain Unbeaten At FIBA Africa WBLA Zone 3 Qualifiers After 31-Point Rout Of Flames

Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Women Basketball Club continued their dominant run at the 2026 FIBA Africa Women’s Basketball League Zone 3 Qualifiers on Thursday night, dismantling hosts Flames Female Basketball Club 77-46 at the Samuel Doe Stadium in Monrovia.

The Nigerian champions dominated from the opening tip, winning all four quarters to seal an emphatic 31-point victory and underline their intent to qualify for the WBLA main tournament.

Fondly called the Queens, MFM set the tone early, executing their half-court offence with precision to take the first quarter 20-11.

They then turned up the defensive intensity in the middle quarters, completely stifling the Flames backcourt. The three-time Nigerian league champions restricted the Liberian side to just eight points in the second quarter and seven in the third, effectively putting the game out of reach before the final period.

Flames found some offensive rhythm in the fourth quarter with 20 points, but MFM answered with 25 of their own to close out a wire-to-wire 77-46 win.

The Queens, who won the Nigerian league unbeaten, were powered by a relentless team effort.

Captain Ukamaka Okoh led the scoring with a team-high 13 points, adding 2 rebounds and 1 assist. Veteran forward Regina Iornumbe chipped in 10 points and a team-high 6 steals, while Marvis Hembam contributed 9 points and 9 assists. Dalphne Olugbagho and Yakhira Buzugbe both added 7 points each.

The win makes it two wins from two matches for MFM, after their 59-36 victory over Nigerian rivals First Bank in their opening game.

The Queens are now firmly on course for a place at the FIBA Africa Women’s Basketball League final tournament in Cairo, Egypt, from December 11 to 20, 2026.
