Ezri Konsa Is a Gunner! Arsenal Complete Aston Villa Defender’s Signing

Arsenal have completed the signing of England international Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa on a long-term contract, strengthening Mikel Arteta’s defensive options ahead of the new season.

The 28-year-old began his professional career with Charlton Athletic in 2016 before moving to Brentford in 2018.

After impressing during the 2018/19 campaign, Konsa earned a move to Aston Villa in 2019 and went on to spend seven seasons at Villa Park, making more than 200 Premier League appearances across all competitions.

Konsa has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most consistent defenders, with the versatility to operate at centre-back or right-back. At international level, he progressed through England’s Under-20 and Under-21 teams before making his senior debut in 2023. He has since represented the Three Lions at Euro 2024 and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta praised Konsa’s quality, athleticism and tactical intelligence, while highlighting his ability to play in multiple defensive positions.

‘Ezri is a defender of high quality, whose athleticism, composure and tactical intelligence have established him as one of the Premier League’s most consistent performers,’ Berta said.

‘Being comfortable in both central defence and at right-back, Ezri will bring valuable versatility to our squad while maintaining the high defensive standards which are fundamental to our challenge of winning major trophies.’

Konsa will wear Arsenal’s No. 15 shirt and will join his new teammates immediately as the Gunners begin their preparations for the new campaign.
