Okoye: ‘I’m Happy to Help The Team With My Saves’
Nigerian hails team effort after Udinese draw with Como

Maduka Okoye praised Udinese’s team performance after helping the Italian side begin their 2026/27 Serie A campaign with a 1-1 draw against Como.
Speaking to Udinese’s official YouTube channel after the match, the Nigeria international said the team had targeted victory but was satisfied to take a point against a strong Como side.
‘It’s an important point. We played against a strong team and we’re happy. We entered the field to win, but in the end a point is fine,’ Okoye said.
The goalkeeper produced several important saves to help Udinese secure a share of the points and was pleased to contribute to the result, although he insisted the credit belonged to the entire team.
‘I’m happy to help the team with my saves, but it’s the team that played a great game today. We are all happy,’ he added.
Okoye also praised Udinese’s supporters for their backing at home, describing their presence as important to the team.
‘Starting again at home in front of our fans is beautiful. They helped us a lot. They are very important to us, and we are grateful to have fans like this,’ he said.
The draw gives Udinese a point from their opening league fixture as they begin their campaign with Okoye playing a key role between the posts.
