‘Together We Will Achieve Good Things’: Rafael Leão Reveals Osimhen Talks After Galatasaray Arrival

Rafael Leão has revealed that he has already spoken to Victor Osimhen ahead of his move to Galatasaray, with the Portuguese star confident the pair can achieve major success together in both the Turkish Süper Lig and the UEFA Champions League.

Leão made the revelation shortly after landing in Istanbul on Saturday following his move from AC Milan.

Asked if he had spoken to Osimhen before completing his transfer, the new Galatasaray winger confirmed that the Nigerian striker is already a close friend.

‘Yes, I have. He is already a very good friend of mine. I believe that together we will achieve good things both in the league and in the Champions League,’ Leão said.

The statement comes as Osimhen continues to produce sensational numbers for the Turkish champions.

The Nigeria international scored his fifth goal in three Süper Lig appearances on Saturday and also provided an assist as Galatasaray came from behind to defeat Göztepe 3-2.

Osimhen has now contributed a goal or assist in each of his last 15 Süper Lig appearances, recording 17 goals and seven assists during that run. The streak is currently the longest active goal-contribution run in Europe’s 10 major leagues.

Leão’s arrival is therefore expected to add another dangerous dimension to a Galatasaray attack already spearheaded by Osimhen.

The Portuguese forward, who said negotiations for his transfer had been ongoing since June, also expressed his excitement about beginning a new chapter of his career and competing in the Champions League.

‘I am very happy to sign for Galatasaray. A new and important chapter of my career begins. I am very pleased to play in the Champions League. We can do well there,’ Leão said.
