Port Harcourt to Host 2026 NPBL Final Four September 20-22
Port Harcourt has been confirmed as the host city for the 2026 Nigeria Premier Basketball League (NPBL) Final Four, with the season-ending tournament scheduled for September 20-22.
The decision was announced by the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) in a communiqué signed by Men’s Premier League Chairman Babatunde Ogunade and NBBF Secretary General Amina O. Amanchi.
The Final Four was rescheduled after an official Rivers State Government event created a clash with the original dates at the Basketball Stadium on Niger Street, Old Port Harcourt Township.
The four-team, round-robin tournament will determine the 2026 NPBL champion and Nigeria’s representative in the 2027 Basketball Africa League (BAL) season.
Rivers Hoopers qualified for the Final Four as playoff leaders after posting a 6-1 record and edging Maktown Flyers on points difference. Maktown also finished 6-1.
Gboko City Chiefs and Aso Sky Hawks completed the Final Four lineup after both teams recorded 5-2 records.
The teams will hold their technical meeting on September 19 before three consecutive days of action from September 20 to 22. The teams are expected to depart on September 23.
At the end of the round-robin competition, the team with the best record will be crowned the 2026 NPBL champion and earn the coveted ticket to the 2027 BAL season.
