Tayo Hands Over Multi-Million Naira Table Tennis Hall to Oyo State Government

Chairman of the Oyo State Table Tennis Association and Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) President Adesoji Tayo has handed over a multi-million naira table tennis hall to the Oyo State Government.

The facility, located at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, was officially commissioned on Monday, September 21, as Tayo’s latest contribution to the development of table tennis in the state.

Tayo described the project as a legacy for future generations of players, stressing that the facility was built to provide athletes with a quality environment to train and compete.

‘It is not about infrastructure to me but about the legacy one is leaving behind,’ Tayo said.

‘This hall will serve as a place where players can train, showcase their talent, and aim for the podium. We have four world-class tables and flooring that will remain in top condition for at least ten years.

‘I believe another Aruna Quadri or Waheed Ekun will be discovered here.’

Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, expressed the government’s appreciation for the donation and assured that the facility would be properly maintained.

‘To say we are grateful is an understatement,’ she said, adding that Governor Seyi Makinde was aware of the donation.

She said the facility would help improve the performance of Oyo athletes at national and international competitions, while calling on other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate Tayo by contributing to sports development.

The General Manager of the Oyo State Sports Council, Olabisi Adegoke, also commended Tayo and urged athletes to use the hall strictly for its intended purpose.
