Last Man Standing! Okoye Arrives Super Eagles Camp for AFCON Qualifiers

Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye arrived at the Super Eagles camp in Uyo on Friday morning ahead of Nigeria’s opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar.

Okoye was granted permission by head coach Eric Chelle to attend to urgent club commitments after Udinese reportedly made a specific request to the Nigeria Football Federation.

The goalkeeper, who has impressed for Udinese in Serie A this season, joined his teammates immediately after arriving and is now available for selection.

However, Okoye is unlikely to start Friday’s clash at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium and could instead be in contention for Tuesday’s away qualifier against Guinea-Bissau.

His arrival further strengthens the competition for the Super Eagles’ goalkeeping position as Nigeria begin their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.
